Green Home magazine has a great lineup of featured projects and articles coming over the next several months. We're starting with several case-studies of Southern California single family homes - one an extensive remodel of two structures on adjoining lots to form a new residential green compound, the other a new LEED® platinum home built to offer a sustainable alternative to beachside living, complete with a beautiful and energy-saving green roof.

GHM will also showcase the transformation of an historic sound recording studio into new green residential lofts, right in the heart of the Melrose Design District and adjacent to West Hollywood. Designed as live-work spaces for musicians, artists and other creatives - and those seeking the urban loft experience in a thriving neighborhood - every convenience is within walking distance (a Whole Foods Market is only three blocks away) from this urban oasis.

And to help demystify the complexities of achieving a home that is not only a model of energy-efficiency but also sets standards of superior indoor air quality (IAQ), we're bringing in the experts. You'll meet, and learn from, three highly qualified professionals that are leaders in their industries.

GHM is just getting started - we're excited about the projects that we hear about every week, from all over the country, that we will be bringing to you as part of our ongoing Regional Architecture and Design in America series.

Cherokee Lofts: Los Angeles

Once the recording home of Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald, Cherokee Studios was a legendary venue that was often bustling around the clock - Beatles producer George Martin called Cherokee the best studio in America, and many musicians and bands would agree.

Located in the entertainment capitol of Los Angeles, homage is paid to it's storied past in the conversion to residential lofts designed with the needs of contemporary musicians in mind.

Venice Remodel

Mid-Century furnishings and new green materials and sustainable energy systems meld together seamlessly bringing a high level of design to this remodel in a beachside neighborhood. On two lots, this live/work compound includes a main house with a smaller detached office that share a private garden.
